The Covington Farmers Market has become a staple of our community. As a program of Renaissance Covington (RCOV), the Covington Farmers Market has helped incubate Covington businesses, like Lil’s Bagels, and has created a community gathering space.
In 2018, the Market moved to year-round operation allowing the community to have access to fresh, local produce year-round. When COVID hit in the first quarter of 2020, the Market immediately began work to continue its mission to provide access to fresh produce for our community. The Market began its outdoor season at the end of April in a modified manner, placing an emphasis on access while maintaining a socially distant, safe shopping experience for its customers. The focus on providing a safe shopping environment has paid off not only for the market but also for the vendors at the Covington Farmers Market.
The Covington Farmers Market has seen unprecedented growth in 2020, even with COVID. In the month of June the market saw a 44% decrease in customer traffic, but a 214% increase in sales. In June alone, over $45,000 of goods were sold at the market. Market Management has found that customers are utilizing the market as a grocery alternative instead of a grocery substitute. Each week market staff and vendors hear praises from customers about the health precautions put in place.
The market invites everyone to visit the Covington Farmers Market every Saturday, from 9-1, at the corner of 3rd & Court St. in Roebling Point. Each week vendors bring local produce, handmade crafts, baked goods and many more agricultural products for you to enjoy.
