The folks behind Connetic Ventures, a Covington-based venture capital firm, in fact, the ONLY Kentucky-based VC company, have launched something they call Connetic Initiative. Brad Zapp and Kyle Schlottman says the program helps to birth local startups that can’t attract investors even though they may have a solid business plan. One example is Viaggi internet services started by Nathan Ellis. Zapp said Initiative started because Connetic works with companies in 38 states but hardly any are local. He said that was disappointing so they started the Initiative. In addition Connetic Initiative is also providing funding to nonprofits in the form of sponsorships ranging from $2,000 to $20,000 annually.
