On June 16th, hear from the leader of the Northern Kentucky Legislative Caucus and Chair of the influential House Transportation Committee on the progress of building the replacement for the Fourth Street or Veterans Bridge linking Covington with Newport. District 60 Representative Sal Santoro will be joined by Transportation Cabinet District Engineer Director Mike Bezold to discuss the options and timeline of this important span which provides key access to the much-discussed Ovation office-residential-concert complex.
The Transportation Cabinet hosted a meeting in late March seeking public input on four potential concepts for the new bridge along with traffic pattern options that are subject to change at the Fourth and Garrard Street intersections. The bridge is getting widespread vocal and economic support from Frankfort legislators. Estimates currently predict construction can start as early as 2024 with completion in three years by 2027.
